Experienced
For over twenty years, I served as a parish priest, accompanying families through moments of joy, loss, and profound change. During that time, I conducted hundreds of funerals, learning above all that no two lives — and no two goodbyes — are ever the same. Hand on heart, it was one of the best parts of the job, an amazing privilege to journey alongside people at such times.
Independent
Today, I work independently as a funeral celebrant. While I no longer conduct authorised church services, that independence brings a freedom many families value. It means I am not bound by prescribed liturgy or church law, and am able to shape each ceremony fully around the person who has died and the people who are grieving.
Flexible
For some families, that means a service that is clearly Christian in tone and hope. For others, it means something more reflective, mixed, or personal. It may be a life-story funeral at a woodland burial ground, a faith-shaped service in a crematorium chapel, or a carefully crafted ceremony in an informal setting. What matters is that it feels right — honest, meaningful, and true to the life being remembered.
Considerate
My background brings experience, calm, and pastoral depth. My independence brings flexibility, creativity, and the space to listen properly. Together, those things allow me to offer funerals that are genuinely bespoke, thoughtfully prepared, and led with care.
All this means I am continuing the work many local funeral directors already knew me for, but with greater flexibility in how ceremonies are shaped.
